We are currently looking for a Head of Category Strategy & Product Development, located in De'Longhi America Inc, our North American headquarters in Upper Saddle River NJ. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic, innovative Company.   • Leverage strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills to analyze insights (consumer, distribution, competition, trends, etc.) to develop an informed category strategy and category tactics.
  • Provide category leadership and expertise.
  • Develop multi-year product development road maps including new product plans.
  • Collaborate with Global HQs and Regional HQs to implement the product road maps.
  • Help to drive business in key categories.
  • Freely create ideas and have an impact on growth.
  • Work collaboratively with internal functions and customers.
  • Develop channel sales strategy in collaboration with sales management.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing leadership to inform and develop strategic marketing plans for the category.
  • Routinely assess the performance of the category and drive actions based on analysis.
  • Build effective internal and external professional relationships at all levels.
  • Be an important member of the North American executive and leadership team
  • Effectively lead, manage and develop a category management team
  • Be an outstanding team player with colleagues locally and at international HQ and serve as a role model in the areas of collaboration, initiative, strategic insight and capabilities development for the organization.
  • Lead development of category plans across the businesses.
  • Manage, lead and develop team of category managers each responsible for key segments of the business.
  • Collaborate with executive team, multifunctional colleagues to ensure aligned plans across the Company.
  • Understand the trends and hot products in the category, new technologies, etc. and report to management and HQ product teams.
  • Analyze market data in key product categories.
  • Conduct market surveys on product categories – consumer and trade partners.
  • Conduct store visits to gain knowledge of market & competitors.
  • Create competitive review matrix to show how products compare in marketplace.
  • Create product marketing calendar to show when products are available to sales and marketing communications team to launch.
  • Understand sales channel strategy and forecasts for products.
  • Work with other functional areas on content, visuals, collateral, user manuals for category.
  • Work with trainer on materials for sales associates and sales field team.


  • 4 year college degree in marketing or related field
  • 10+ years experience in product development or brand management or some combination of the two with special focus on leveraging consumer insights to drive strategies, roadmaps and plans.
  • Significant experience leading and developing teams in areas of consumer insight understanding, strategy development and product development roadmaps.
  • Success building processes to foster the development of the above
  • Strong understanding of the North American retailer base and business landscape
  • Experience leading and developing consumer research initiatives to inform category strategy and product development plans
  • Experience leveraging insights into brand or category plans
  • Product development and multi year road mapping experience with premium brands
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Strong interpersonal, communication & collaboration skills
  • Must be an outstanding team player
  • Displays initiative, passion and drive and at the same time can manage with patience to foster a strong culture of success and organization development
  • Beyond only a functional leader, need an executive who can help lead the overall organization to the business, cultural and overall Company objectives
  • Ability to travel within US, Canada and globally
